Digital Craftsmen, the London-based managed services hosting company, has won a prestigious contract to host the Education and Training Foundation’s Excellence Gateway.
The hosting provider, which prides itself on its hands-on, human approach, has been signed up by the UK non-profit body for two years, with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
“Digital Craftsmen proposed the best solution at the best price,” commented Richard Moore, who led the procurement process for the Education and Training Foundation. “They talked passionately about managed hosting and were particularly strong on ITIL service delivery documentation and processes.”
Digital Craftsmen beat around 30 hosting providers to win the project, which will involve migrating the foundation’s Excellence Gateway to new servers by the beginning of 2015.
The Education and Training Foundation is a non-profit body established in 2013 to improve standards in further education and training. It is funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Department for Education.
The body’s Excellence Gateway is a vast resource repository for the education and training sector. It has over 10,000 resources spanning teaching materials, good practice guides and case studies.
Digital Craftsmen is transforming the gateway’s hosting systems to provide a more cost effective managed hosting solution.
“We are delighted to be working with the Education and Training Foundation,” commented Digital Craftsmen MD Simon Wilcox. “The project proves that our tailored hosting services can make a huge difference to public sector projects such as these — creating more resilient, flexible and responsive systems where budgets are lean and reliability is critical.”
